April Fools

Today is April Fools day and I feel that things are crazier than ever. We are expecting our first child and I am very excited about this fact, but extremely nervous at the same time. I don't know what to expect and how I am going to handle being a father. We have been running around interviewing daycares, looking into pediatricians, and going to numerous doctors appointments. Starting next week we have to begin the birth classes and that will add even more to our already hectic schedule. I am glad that everything is going good with mom and baby, we are truly excited and can't wait.

The one big thing that I keep thinking about is the state of our country and world currently. I remember several years ago talking to an individual who said "why would you want to bring a child into such a messed up world". I never really thought about this statement until now when I am having my own child. The world we live in today is in such shambles with natural disasters, wars, terrorisms, and a continually sinking economy. In recent days I have thought deeply on this matter and have come to the conclusion that at any point in history there was always something going on that would have made it a poor time to have kids and bring a new life into the world. The time that we live in now is no different, yes the world is changing and things are much different now than when I was a kid. I think that if we raise our kids right and focus on our families then things will work out in the end and we will be blessed. I think that being parents and raising kids is a huge responsibility and a greatly rewarding adventure.

More thoughts later.....
